BREAKING: Uganda’s Kitende Learn Opponents in CAF Schools Championship Final

Uganda’s representatives, St Mary’s Kitende, have learned their opponents in the final of the 2026 CAF Schools Football Championship.

Kitende, who defeated Benin 4-3 on penalties on Thursday afternoon, will face Senegal in the final scheduled for Friday.

Senegal booked their place in the final with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Morocco.

They raced into a 3-0 lead at halftime before adding a fourth goal in the second half to seal the win against a side that Uganda had earlier beaten 3-0 in the group stages.

On their path to the final, Kitende opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe before registering dominant victories over DR Congo (6-0) and Morocco (3-0).

In the semifinals, they edged past Benin 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw in normal time.

Edema Bashir, Kombi Eze, Frank Musisi, and Akram Ssenyonga converted their penalties for the Ugandan side, while Mukasa Elisa missed his effort.

For Benin, two penalties were saved by goalkeeper Hamidu Kasumba, while they converted three of their spot-kicks.

The winners in both the boys’ and girls’ categories will receive USD 300,000, while the runners-up will be awarded USD 200,000 and third-place finishers USD 150,000.
