UPL: Vipers Maintain Title Lead Despite Kitara Stalemate
Table leaders Vipers SC were held to a goalless draw by second-placed Kitara FC in matchday 22 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
In the match played under the floodlights at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, a large crowd turned up, but the encounter failed to live up to expectations as both sides settled for a point.
Kitara started the game on a high tempo in the opening stages, but Vipers remained well organised defensively.
Around the half-hour mark, Vipers’ Kevin Dasylva Bady had a chance to break the deadlock but failed to make it count, as both teams went into the break level.
In the second half, fans anticipated more attacking intent, but clear-cut chances remained limited, with both sides appearing cautious and unwilling to concede.
Kitara’s Yunus Sibira showed flashes of individual brilliance, but his efforts did not yield a breakthrough.

At full time, both teams shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
The result means that, for the first time in their history, Kitara have collected four points from a possible six against Vipers in a single league campaign.
In the first leg, Vipers failed to honour the fixture due to a dispute over a new league format. The decision was later reversed, but the match was awarded to Kitara on forfeiture.
Vipers remain top of the table with 51 points, while Kitara stay second with 47 points, maintaining a four-point gap in the title race.
In their next fixtures, Vipers will visit SC Villa on 15 April, while Kitara will face KCCA FC away on 17 April.
Matchday 22 continues on Saturday, with Calvary hosting Buhimba, while KCCA FC take on SC Villa in Kampala in the late kickoff.
