Entebbe UPPC Pile More Misery on 10-Man Buhimba After Comeback
By: Geoffrey Mugabi
Entebbe UPPC came from behind to defeat relegation-threatened Buhimba 2-1 in matchday 23 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Thursday.
Ambrose Kigozi and an own goal overturned Anwar Ntege’s opener for the hosts.
In the match played at Butema, Entebbe UPPC had to dig deep to secure victory against a determined Buhimba side.
The hosts took the lead in the 36th minute through Anwar Ntege, but Ambrose Kigozi struck just before halftime to level the score.
In the second half, Entebbe UPPC looked the more dominant side and eventually found the winner, albeit fortuitously.
Substitute Issa Mubiru delivered a cross that was deflected into the net for an own goal, sealing the 2-1 comeback victory.
Buhimba finished the match with 10 men after David Kasaija was sent off.
The win ends Entebbe UPPC’s five-game winless run and lifts them to fifth position with 40 points.
Buhimba remain in the relegation zone with 15 points after 23 matches.
In their next fixtures, Entebbe UPPC will host KCCA FC on April 21, while Buhimba will face Vipers SC at home on the same day.
Elsewhere, Police FC came from behind to beat Mbarara City 2-1, registering their first-ever away win against the Ankole Lions.
Later this evening, URA FC will host BUL FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
