BREAKING: Uganda Drawn in Tough Group at 2026 U17 AFCON

The Uganda U17 Boys National Team, the Uganda Cubs, have learned their group-stage opponents following the draw for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The draw was conducted on Wednesday afternoon in Cairo, with Uganda placed in Group B alongside Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and DR Congo.

The ceremony was officiated by African football stars Fiston Mayele, Aliou Dieng and Ahmed Belhadji.

The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals and automatically secure places at the FIFA U17 World Cup.

The four third-placed teams will advance to a playoff stage, where the best two sides will join the eight quarter-finalists to complete the list of World Cup qualifiers.

In the previous edition, Uganda qualified for the World Cup through the playoffs.

This time, the Cubs will aim to secure automatic qualification by finishing among the top two in their group.

At the World Cup, Uganda reached the Round of 16, recording historic victories against Senegal and France.

The 2026 U17 AFCON tournament will be held in Morocco from 13 May to 2 June.
