FWSL: Mugabi’s Matchday 17 Best XI

Matchday 17 of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League concluded over the weekend, with six matches played across the country.

With teams chasing different ambitions, sports analyst Mugabi Geoffrey has selected his Best XI of the round, deploying a 3-4-3 formation following impressive performances from several attacking players.

Goalkeeper
Grace Nassande – Makerere University

The shot-stopper delivered a composed performance against a spirited Amus side, keeping a clean sheet as Makerere secured a narrow 1-0 victory.

Defenders
Aminah Nakato – Kawempe Muslim

After joining Kawempe from She Corporate last year, Nakato has silenced doubters with consistent performances. Over the weekend, she was solid at the back, effectively containing Lady Doves’ attack while helping her side secure a crucial clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

Catherine Namukose – Makerere University

Amus College put up a strong fight, but Namukose stood out with her dominance in duels and ball recoveries. Her performance was instrumental in Makerere’s clean sheet, earning her the Player of the Match award.

Hadijah Babirye – Kawempe Muslim

Quiet off the pitch but commanding on it, Babirye was outstanding in defence. She made it difficult for Lady Doves to penetrate, playing a key role in maintaining a clean sheet and earning Player of the Match honours.

Midfielders
Patience Nabulobi – Kampala Queens

In Kampala Queens’ 1-1 draw with She Maroons, Nabulobi delivered an all-round midfield display. She excelled in passing, ball recovery, aerial duels, and breaking up opposition play, earning her the Player of the Match award.

Marion Serenge – St Noa

Serenge has quickly adapted since joining St Noa in the mid-season transfer window. She was the standout performer with a hat-trick in the 4-0 victory over Asubo Ladies, with all three goals showcasing her quality.

Brenda Munyana – Uganda Martyrs

While she did not score, Munyana’s influence was undeniable. She provided two assists and consistently troubled the Olila defence with her creativity and movement.

Moureen Kizza – Uganda Martyrs

Arguably one of the most versatile players in the league, Kizza impressed once again. She scored a brace in Uganda Martyrs’ 3-1 win over Olila, a venue where the team has historically struggled, and was named Player of the Match.

Forwards
Noeline Namiro – Makerere University

Namiro scored one of the standout goals of the matchday, converting a well-taken free kick to secure victory for Makerere. The goal took her tally to five for the season.

Jesca Namanda – She Corporate

Namanda was the driving force behind She Corporate’s comeback from two goals down against Rines. She scored twice to level the match before her effort led to the winning goal, sealing a 3-2 victory. Her brace takes her to 13 goals, making her the league’s top scorer.

Latifah Nakasi – Kawempe Muslim

Nakasi delivered when it mattered most, scoring the decisive goal that kept Kawempe at the top of the table. Her contribution secured all three points and earned her a place in the Best XI.

Best Coach
Belyse Ininahazwe – She Corporate

Assistant Coach
Fred Ndawula

Several players and coaches delivered standout performances during the matchday, but this selection highlights Mugabi’s top performers.

In total, five wins were recorded while one match ended in a draw. Three home teams registered victories, while two sides won away from home, with a total of 17 goals scored.

The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returns this weekend with Matchday 18, with all six fixtures scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026.
