Latifah Nakasi scored the decisive goal as Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC edged Lady Doves 1-0 on Sunday in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.

In a tightly contested encounter marked by physical duels and intense challenges, Nakasi rose to the occasion to net the all-important goal, sending Kawempe to 42 points and keeping them at the top of the table after 17 matches.

Despite creating several chances, the hosts had to wait until the 51st minute to break the deadlock. A well-delivered cross from Shadia Nabirye found Nakasi, who headed home to seal a narrow but crucial victory.

The result means Kawempe have completed a league double over Lady Doves for the first time since 2022.

It also marks Kawempe’s seventh consecutive league victory, a run that stretches back to their 2-0 defeat to Makerere last year.

Kawempe will continue their title pursuit with a visit to struggling Asubo Ladies next Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lady Doves will host Makerere University as they aim to break into the top five. They currently sit 10th on the table, seven points adrift of the top five, with five matches remaining to close the gap.
