Midfielder Saidi Mayanja was the standout performer as KCCA FC defeated Lugazi FC on Saturday in a Uganda Premier League match played in Najjembe.
Mayanja scored once and provided an assist, while Ivan Ahimbisibwe added another goal before Lugazi defender Paul Wasswa’s own goal sealed a 3–0 victory for KCCA.
The result marked KCCA’s fifth consecutive league win, taking them to 45 points in the third place, just two behind table leaders Vipers, who host Calvary later tonight.
Mayanja opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a simple tap-in after Lugazi goalkeeper Allan Batali fumbled Herbert Achai’s powerful shot. KCCA carried the narrow lead into the halftime break.
Early in the second half, Joel Sserunjogi nearly doubled the advantage within the opening five minutes, but Batali produced a spectacular save to deny him.

However, just four minutes later, Mayanja turned provider, setting up Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who clinically fired past the goalkeeper to make it 2–0 for the visitors.
The goal took Ahimbisibwe’s league tally to 11, strengthening his position as the league’s top scorer.
KCCA extended their lead after Ahimbisibwe’s pressure inside the box forced Lugazi defender Paul Wasswa into an own goal.
New signing Kennedy Muserero nearly added a fourth goal late on, but his effort narrowly went wide.
The victory means KCCA have now won their last five league matches. Lugazi, meanwhile, remain winless in their last four league games and sit 12th on the table with 18 points, just three above the relegation zone.
In their next fixture, Lugazi will face NEC FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup on March 17, while KCCA will take on Onduparaka on the same day.
Elsewhere, SC Villa secured a 2–0 away victory over Entebbe UPPC, while UPDF FC and Maroons played out a goalless draw in Luzira.
Later tonight, Vipers host Calvary, while URA FC visit Express FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
