Kitara FC released an appreciation message to fans and stakeholders following an incident where supporters stormed barricades during their match against Buhimba Saints FC at Hoima City Stadium on Friday.
In a statement dated March 15, 2026 and signed by club president Kasozi Deo Akiiki, the club thanked supporters who turned up in large numbers to witness the first-ever competitive match played at the stadium.
The massive turnout, according to the club, demonstrated the strong support Kitara FC enjoys in the region and across Uganda.
However, videos circulated showing some fans climbing one of the stadium fences and jumping over barricades in an attempt to gain access to the venue.
Kitara FC noted that stewards and security teams quickly responded and managed the situation before it escalated. The club added that despite the incident, the stadium infrastructure was not damaged and the match remained generally peaceful and entertaining.
The Hoima-based side also used the message to express gratitude to several stakeholders, including sports authorities, security agencies, sponsors, and the media fraternity for their role in ensuring the event was successfully held.
On the pitch, Kitara FC celebrated a commanding performance as they defeated Buhimba Saints FC 4–0 in the historic Bunyoro Derby. Kabon Living and George Senkaaba each scored twice to secure the emphatic victory for the hosts.
The club further pledged to improve matchday organization in future games at Hoima City Stadium by increasing ticket availability, expanding ticket-selling points, and improving access to stadium gates before kickoff.

Kitara FC also confirmed that their next fixture will be a Round of 16 tie in the Stanbic Uganda Cup against Bunyaruguru United FC at Royal Park in Butema on March 18.
Despite the crowd control incident, the club described the occasion as a memorable and historic moment for football in the Bunyoro region.
