Latifah Nakasi: The Key to Kawempe Muslim Ladies’ Title Ambitions

Latifah Nakasi has been a pivotal figure in Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC’s quest for a league title this season.

Statistically, she is the club’s standout performer so far. But just how crucial has she been to Kawempe’s campaign, and can she lead them to a sixth league crown?

Nakasi joined Kawempe from Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC at the start of the 2025-26 season, a move that immediately drew attention given her proven abilities and track record.

The signing brought a leader, a lethal forward, and an experienced striker to the Valley Warriors, and she has delivered on all fronts.

Nakasi made her debut against Kampala Queens in a 1-1 home draw on Friday, October 3, 2025, though she did not score.

On matchday two, she opened her account for Kawempe, scoring in the 76th minute against Olila to help her team rally from behind to a 3-1 victory.

She continued her scoring form against St Noa, netting the winner in a 2-1 victory. Although she went goalless in the following two matches, she was instrumental in Kawempe’s 2-0 away win over She Corporate on matchday six, scoring both goals.

Nakasi returned to scoring in consecutive games on matchdays 11 and 12, including a brace in a 2-0 win over Rines and a goal in a 1-1 draw against St Noa.

She also found the net in a 1-1 draw with She Maroons on matchday 14 and scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 home victory over Lady Doves on matchday 17.

This season, Nakasi has scored nine goals, eight of which directly contributed to Kawempe earning points. She has scored in seven different matches, helping the club secure five wins and two draws, totaling 17 points.

Her goals have effectively secured 14 points, excluding the goal against Olila, which would not have altered the outcome.

Without Nakasi’s contributions in matches against St Noa (home and away), She Maroons, She Corporate, Rines, and Lady Doves, Kawempe would currently have only 28 points, placing them fourth in the league, 13 points behind She Corporate.

Had Nakasi not scored those eight crucial goals, She Corporate could have clinched the championship with just one more win from the remaining fixtures.

Nakasi’s impact underscores why Kawempe invested heavily to bring her on board. She is just one goal shy of reaching double figures this season, marking five consecutive seasons with double-digit goals and assists, providing her quality.

Kawempe’s remaining fixtures are as follows:

* Saturday, April 4: vs Asubo (A)

* Sunday, April 12: vs Makerere (A)

* Saturday, April 25: vs Rines (H)

* Sunday, May 10: vs Kampala Queens (A)

* Sunday, May 17: vs Olila (H)

Has Nakasi been Kawempe’s best player this season? Could she be the most impactful signing in the league? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
