Marion Serenge scored the decisive goal as St Noa Girls FC stunned Kampala Queens at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Saturday morning.
Serenge’s beautiful second-half strike helped St Noa secure maximum points against Kampala Queens on their home turf in matchday 15 of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
The result dealt a major blow to Kampala Queens’ title ambitions, as they had the opportunity to move within four points of the table leaders.
Both sides displayed well-coached and organised football, though clear scoring opportunities were limited in the first half despite good chemistry in possession.
In the second half, substitute Shamusa Najjuma came close to opening the scoring, but her first-time effort narrowly missed the target.
The decisive moment arrived in the 75th minute when new signing Marion Serenge put the visitors ahead.
St Noa patiently built from the back before Serenge unleashed a powerful shot into the far left corner, leaving goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu with no chance.
There was a debatable handball involving Marion Amangat inside the box following Serenge’s cutback, but the referee opted not to award a penalty to the visitors.
Despite making several changes in search of an equaliser, Kampala Queens were unable to break down St Noa’s well-organised defence.

At the final whistle, St Noa walked away with all three points, moving up to fifth place on 21 points.
St Noa remain unbeaten in the second round of the league, recording two wins and one draw, with Serenge scoring twice in her last three league appearances.
Kampala Queens, who had won the first leg by the same scoreline, earlier this week confirmed the addition of coach Shafic Mutebi to their technical team. However, they still failed to secure victory at home.
The defeat leaves Kampala Queens in third place with 28 points, seven behind leaders She Corporate, who also have a game in hand.
Last season, St Noa defeated Kampala Queens 3-2 at the same venue to eliminate them from the FUFA Women Cup.
In their next fixture, Kampala Queens will visit Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC on Saturday, March 21, while St Noa will host Olila the following day.
Elsewhere, Kayesu Yuster scored for Rines to deny Uganda Martyrs Lubaga all three points after captain Gloria Namugerwa had earlier given the hosts the lead, as the two sides shared the spoils.
