The StarTimes Uganda Premier League Matchday 21 concluded on Saturday, 14 March, and here is our selection of the best-performing eleven players from the round.

Goalkeeper: David Lukwago – SC Villa

David Lukwago earns the goalkeeper’s spot after producing three crucial saves in SC Villa’s 2–0 victory over Entebbe UPPC. His performance was decisive in keeping a clean sheet and securing the win for his side.

Calvary’s Hadji Shukuru also delivered a commendable display against Vipers SC, making several good saves. However, he conceded a late goal, which gave Lukwago the edge for this matchday.

Express FC goalkeeper Khassim Hafizi was another standout performer, making two important saves in his side’s 3–1 victory over URA FC.

He was named Man of the Match, although there were debates over whether the accolade should have gone to Kenneth Kimera. Nevertheless, Hafizi’s contribution to the win cannot be overlooked.

Right Back: David Owori – SC Villa

SC Villa captain David Owori led by example in the team’s hard-fought 2–0 victory over Entebbe UPPC. He made several important blocks and also contributed effectively when pushing forward.

Few right-backs delivered performances of similar quality on Matchday 21, which earns Owori a place in the Best XI.

Left Back: Hakim Wandera – NEC FC

Hakim Wandera demonstrated that size is not always the defining factor in football. The NEC FC left-back proved that intelligence and positioning can be just as valuable.

Wandera delivered an impressive performance against Police FC, and his cross to Muhamad Senoga Kagawa resulted in the match-winning goal.

KCCA FC’s Herbert Achai also impressed at left-back during his team’s 3–0 victory over Lugazi in Najjembe. His powerful shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but Saidi Mayanja reacted quickly to score from the rebound.

Centre Back: Stephen Oriokot – Calvary

Despite Calvary’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Vipers SC, Stephen Oriokot stood out with a strong defensive display. He made several blocks and won key duels throughout the match.

Centre Back: Geoffrey Lubangakene – SC Villa

Geoffrey Lubangakene delivered a solid defensive performance in SC Villa’s victory over Entebbe UPPC. He won possession multiple times, dominated in duels, and made crucial blocks. His display earned him the Man of the Match award.

Defensive Midfielder: Tonny Atukunda – NEC FC

In a game largely decided by midfield dominance, Tonny Atukunda produced a standout performance as NEC FC secured a 1–0 win over Police FC. His control and work rate in midfield played a key role in the result.

Central Midfielder: Saidi Mayanja – KCCA FC

Saidi Mayanja was the standout performer in KCCA FC’s 3–0 win over Lugazi. The midfielder scored one goal and assisted Ivan Ahimbisibwe, earning the Man of the Match award for his influential display.

Attacking Midfielder: Kabon Living – Kitara FC

Kabon Living had an outstanding game in Kitara FC’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Buhimba United in the Bunyoro Derby. He scored twice, including one directly from a corner, and was also involved in the build-up to George Senkaaba’s brace.

Left Wing Forward: Muhamad Senoga Kagawa – NEC FC

Kagawa scored the only goal of the match as NEC FC secured a narrow but crucial victory over Police FC. Beyond the goal, his overall performance was impressive and influential.

Forward: Kenneth Kimera – Express FC

Express FC ended their run of eight league matches without a win after defeating URA FC 3–1 at Nakivubo. Kenneth Kimera played a key role, scoring once and providing an assist in the victory.

Forward: George Senkaaba – Kitara FC

George Senkaaba delivered a clinical performance in the Bunyoro Derby. The former Express FC striker scored a brace to help Kitara FC secure a commanding 4–0 win and maintain their push in the title race.

Best Coach: Jimmy Kintu – Express FC

Jimmy Kintu earns the Best Coach recognition after guiding Express FC to a 3–1 victory over URA FC, ending the club’s eight-match winless run.

The result came amid reports of challenges within the club, including the provisional suspension of CEO Ashiraf Miiro Mwanje and captain Ashraf Mbazira by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel over match-fixing allegations. Despite these difficulties, Kintu managed to organize his team effectively to secure a vital win.

NEC FC head coach Kaddu Badru also deserves mention for guiding his side to a hard-fought 1–0 away victory over Police FC.

Several players delivered impressive performances across the Matchday 21 fixtures, but this selection highlights those who stood out the most.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League will return with Matchday 22 on 8 April 2026.
