Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC 0-2 Kampala Queens – Match Report and Goals

Kampala Queens defeated Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC away from home on Saturday morning to keep their title hopes alive in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.

In a match played on a soggy pitch in Lubaga, Peace Muduwa and Joanitah Ainembabazi found the net as the visitors secured maximum points.

The wet conditions affected the flow of the game, forcing both teams to adjust their style of play, with long passes dominating proceedings.

Kampala Queens took the lead in the 18th minute through Peace Muduwa, who scored from a tight angle to put the visitors ahead.

Notably, the last time Kampala Queens scored at this venue, it was also through Muduwa, and she once again proved decisive.

Chances were few thereafter, as Kampala Queens went into the halftime break with a narrow 1-0 lead.

The second half remained largely uneventful until the 68th minute when substitute Joanitah Ainembabazi doubled the lead. She calmly lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper, who had come off her line.

Kampala Queens remained solid defensively to see out the game and return to winning ways following last weekend’s defeat to St Noa.

The Queens of soccer remain third with 31 points, while Uganda Martyrs are fourth with 22 points, a position that could change if St Noa win tomorrow.

Uganda Martyrs will next travel to face Olila in Soroti on Saturday, March 28, while Kampala Queens will host She Maroons on the same day.

Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim edged Amus 2-1, while Makerere fell 2-1 to She Corporate in Njeru.

Matchday 16 continues on Sunday, with St Noa hosting Olila, Lady Doves visiting Asubo Ladies, and She Maroons taking on Rines in Luzira.
