Matchday 21 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League concluded on Saturday evening with several notable developments shaping the title race and the battle across the table. Here are the key talking points from the latest round of fixtures.
Vipers Maintain Grip on the Summit

League leaders Vipers SC preserved their advantage at the top of the table with a narrow 1-0 victory over Calvary FC.
Second-half substitutes proved decisive as Yunus Ssentamu and Gusto Mulongo combined for the match-winning goal. Ssentamu made a well-timed run into the box to receive a pass from Derrick Ndahiro before setting up Mulongo with his first touch, allowing the forward to calmly finish.
Calvary players protested for offside, but video footage showed both Ssentamu and Mulongo were clearly onside.
The victory ensured the Venoms remain top of the table with 50 points after 21 matches, maintaining a four-point lead.
Kitara Dominate Historic Bunyoro Derby

History was made on Friday, March 13, 2026, when Kitara FC and Buhimba Saints United contested the first-ever competitive match at Hoima City Stadium.
Kitara marked the occasion in style with a commanding 4-0 victory in the Bunyoro Derby. Living Kabon and George Senkaaba each scored a brace to seal an emphatic win.
The result also served as revenge for Kitara, who had lost the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier in the season. The victory keeps them second on the table with 46 points, four behind leaders Vipers.
KCCA Keep Title Hopes Alive with Fifth Straight Win

KCCA FC strengthened their title push with a 3-0 away victory over Lugazi FC, securing their fifth consecutive league win.
Saidi Mayanja opened the scoring before assisting Ivan Ahimbisibwe for the second goal, while defender Paul Wasswa scored an own goal to complete the scoreline.
The Lugogo-based side have now defeated BUL FC, Buhimba Saints United, Police FC, Express FC and Lugazi FC in their last five league matches.
KCCA sit third with 45 points, just five behind Vipers in what is shaping into a tightly contested title race.
Ahimbisibwe Extends Lead in Golden Boot Race

KCCA striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe continued his impressive scoring run by netting in the victory over Lugazi.
The forward has now scored five goals in his last five matches, including strikes against BUL, Express and Lugazi, as well as a brace against Buhimba.
His tally now stands at 11 league goals, making him the current top scorer.
Last season, Ahimbisibwe finished with 16 league goals and now sits just five goals away from matching that mark with nine matches still remaining.
The striker had previously stated his ambition to surpass last season’s total, a target that could also boost KCCA’s title ambitions.
Kaddu Badru’s NEC Emerging as Top-Four Contenders

NEC FC continue to build momentum under head coach Kaddu Badru. Since the start of 2026, NEC have played 10 league matches, winning six and drawing four.
Their latest result was a 1-0 away victory against Police FC, courtesy of Muhamad Senoga Kagawa.
Police had defeated SC Villa on matchday 20, but NEC managed to secure all three points and move closer to the top four.
They are currently seventh on the table with 34 points, just four points behind fourth-placed SC Villa. Notably, NEC have also kept clean sheets in their last four league matches.
Express End Eight-Game Winless Run

Express FC finally returned to winning ways after eight league matches with a 3-1 victory over URA FC at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.
Goals from Kenneth Kimera, Mikdad Ssenyonga and Amos Muwonge secured the win, while Ronald Otti scored a consolation for URA.
The victory came amid reports of financial challenges within the club and the provisional suspension of CEO Ashiraf Miiro Mwanje and captain Ashraf Mbazira by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations Disciplinary Panel over alleged match-fixing.
Despite the off-field turmoil, the Red Eagles moved up to 10th place with 23 points.
League Break Ahead
The Uganda Premier League will now pause as teams shift focus to the Stanbic Uganda Cup and the upcoming international break. League action is scheduled to resume on April 8, 2026.
