Eight Locally Based Players Named in Uganda Cranes Squad for AFCON 2027 Qualifiers, DR Congo Friendlies
Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a 28-man squad for the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifiers and international friendly matches.
Uganda will travel to Tunisia on September 24 before hosting Libya at home on September 29 in the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
The Cranes will then face DR Congo in a pair of international friendly matches, travelling away on October 2 before hosting the Leopards on October 5.
Eight locally based players have been included in the squad and will be part of the team for the upcoming assignments.
The locally based contingent includes goalkeepers David Lukwago of SC Villa and Hannnigton Ssebwalunyo, alongside Jonathan Odongo of Entebbe UPPC, Geofrey Lubanga Kane of SC Villa and Hillary Mukundane of Vipers SC.
Inform NEC FC forward Richard Basangwa has also been summoned, while Frank Sebuufu of SC Villa and Herbert Achayi are also part of the squad.
Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango has also been included, bringing a wealth of experience to the team.
Uganda, together with Kenya and Tanzania, will host the historic 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged in East Africa.
