New Chapter: Nagadya Set for Al Ahly Debut as Egyptian League Kicks Off

Ugandan forward Catherine Nagadya is in line to make her debut for Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC today when they host SAK in the opening game of the Egyptian Women’s Premier League.

The match, which will be played at Al Ahly’s home ground and kicks off at 4:30 PM EAT, marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Crested Cranes star, who joined the Cairo-based club on a two-year deal in July.

It is a debut that has been highly anticipated, with Sports Light Uganda understanding that Nagadya impressed the technical bench during pre-season and is regarded as a key player for Al Ahly ahead of a demanding campaign.

The Red Devils enter the new season with a point to prove after finishing second last season, five points behind champions FC Masar. They have strengthened their attack with the addition of Nagadya as they seek to close the gap and challenge for the title.

The former Kampala Queens striker has been handed the iconic shirt number 11, the same number she wore when she captained Uganda Martyrs Lubaga to their historic maiden FUFA Women’s Cup triumph.

Al Ahly will be expecting goals from their new forward. Last season, Nagadya scored 10 goals and provided five assists for Kampala Queens in the FUFA Women Super League. Over each of the past four seasons, she has registered at least 12 goal involvements in the league.

From captaining Martyrs to winning the league and cup with Kampala Queens, Nagadya now begins a new journey leading the line for one of Africa’s biggest clubs.

Today marks the start of her first professional chapter.
