Anguti Completes Return to Lugazi
Versatile defender Louis Anguti has completed his return to Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC.
Anguti has signed a four-year contract with the Leaders, rejoining the club from MYDA FC ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The 20-year-old returns to Lugazi two years after leaving the club, where he developed through the academy before spending three seasons with the senior team.
He remains a memorable figure among the club’s supporters, particularly for scoring the decisive goal against Kajjansi United in 2022 that secured Lugazi’s promotion to the FUFA Big League.
Speaking after completing his return, Anguti expressed his excitement about rejoining his boyhood club.
“I feel very good to come back home. I was born in Lugazi, and both my mother and father still live here. I also developed my football career at this great club after joining when it was still competing in the Buganda Regional League.
“I have many wonderful memories from our journey through the regional league, the FUFA Big League, and eventually earning promotion to the Uganda Premier League. I believe I can enjoy another successful spell here.
“The management and the coach believe in me, and that gives me confidence that I will deliver strong performances in the coming seasons.”
Anguti’s versatility is expected to be a major asset for head coach Abbey Kikomeko, as he is capable of playing as a central defender, right-back, and defensive midfielder.
On the international stage, Anguti captained the Uganda U-18 national team to the CECAFA U-18 Championship in Kenya in 2023. He has also represented Uganda at U-20 level with the Hippos.
