The USSSA Ball Games I 2026 officially got underway on Thursday in Mukono, with eleven disciplines on the programme.
Excitement and anticipation filled Mukono District, with all teams set for competition. By 11 a.m., all departments were ready and most games had kicked off at different venues.
Among the matches played later in the evening was a highly anticipated clash between Masaka SS and Boni Consilii Girls Vocational Secondary School.
Despite a goalless first half, Boni Consilii showed their strength in the second half to secure a 3-0 victory.
Boni Consilii’s strong start to the USSSA Ball Games I girls’ football championship was backed by clear intent, both on the pitch and after the final whistle.
Speaking after their win over Masaka SS, head coach Brenda Nassozi did not hesitate to underline her team’s objective: “Our main target is to win the trophy, and I know my girls are well prepared to achieve that.”
Her side’s performance matched those words. Although Boni Consilii controlled much of the first half, they were forced to wait for the breakthrough, with Masaka SS holding firm to keep the game goalless at halftime.

The patience paid off early in the second half when Komugisha Loyce struck from long range to open the scoring.
The goal shifted momentum firmly in Boni Consilii’s favour, and they began to assert their dominance.
Loyce later doubled the lead with a composed finish inside the box, while Natuhwera Catherine sealed the victory with a third goal late on, completing a convincing second-half display.
It was a performance built on discipline, structure, and belief—qualities that reflect a team with serious ambitions.
After finishing third in the previous edition, Boni Consilii appear determined to go a step further this year.
Drawn in a competitive Group I, they will need to maintain this level as the tournament progresses.
However, if their opening match is anything to go by, they have both the mindset and the quality to challenge for top honours.
Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim SS came from behind to defeat St Andrews Ruhindi 3-1, while Mukono Kings High School registered a 17-0 win over Jubilee 2000 Secondary School in the day’s biggest result.
