Final

Uganda 3-0 Tanzania

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, successfully defended their CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship title after defeating hosts Tanzania 3-0 in the final on Tuesday at KMC Stadium.

Justine Ayerango, Brenda Nassaka, and Flavia Yagala were all on target as Uganda produced another dominant performance to cap off an outstanding tournament campaign.

The Teen Cranes entered the final unbeaten and maintained their perfect record, overcoming Tanzania without conceding a goal to retain the regional crown.

Uganda began their campaign with a commanding 13-0 victory over Djibouti before defeating Zanzibar 3-0 and South Sudan 4-0 in the group stage. They then overcame Kenya 3-0 in the semifinals to book their place in the final.

Coach Sheryl Botes’ side finished the tournament with an incredible record of 26 goals scored and zero goals conceded, underlining their dominance throughout the competition.

The triumph sees Uganda successfully defend the title they last won in 2019 under coach Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi.

The victory also marks the first trophy won by Sheryl Botes with any of Uganda’s women’s national teams.

The South African tactician adds the CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship title to the bronze medal she won with the Queens Cranes at the 2023 African Games and the bronze medal secured with the Crested Cranes at the 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship.

Uganda Starting XI:

Mayimuna Namuwaya (GK), Phiona Arach, Jovia Nakirya, Martha Babirye, Vicky Atyeronimungu, Lydia Nameseruka, Brenda Nassaka, Flavia Yagala, Shadia Nabirye, Justine Ayerango, Immaculate Acen.
