━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Uganda’s U17 boys’ national football team, the Uganda Cubs, have learned their opponents for the FIFA U17 World Cup playoffs.

The Uganda Cubs will face Ghana in the playoffs this Saturday, with the winner securing qualification for the FIFA U17 Boys’ World Cup.

Uganda finished third in Group B with four points behind Ivory Coast and Cameroon to secure a place in the playoffs.

Ghana also finished third in Group D with four points, behind Senegal and Algeria.

The winner between Uganda and Ghana will qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the other playoff fixture will see Mozambique take on Ethiopia for the remaining World Cup slot.

It should be noted that the top two teams from each of the four groups automatically qualify for both the FIFA U17 World Cup and the quarterfinals of the AFCON U17 tournament.

The teams that finish third in their respective groups advance to the playoffs, where the two winners join the eight quarterfinalists to complete the 10 African representatives at the FIFA U17 Boys’ World Cup.

In the previous edition, Uganda defeated The Gambia in the playoffs to qualify for their maiden FIFA U17 World Cup and went on to reach the Round of 16 at the final tournament.
