Buhimba United vs Vipers SC, 4pm, Hoima
Preview: Vipers Aim to Complete Double Over Buhimba
The Uganda Premier League returns on Tuesday, April 21 with matchday 24 action, as table leaders Vipers SC travel to Hoima to face Buhimba United, targeting a league double as they continue their push for the title.
Vipers head into this fixture seeking a return to winning ways after drawing their last two league matches against Kitara FC and SC Villa.
The trip to face relegation-threatened Buhimba presents an opportunity for the leaders to regain momentum.
In the reverse fixture played at Kitende, Vipers delivered a dominant performance, securing a 4-0 victory.
Milton Karisa scored a brace, while Karim Watambala and Abubakar Walusimbi each added a goal to seal the emphatic win.
Buhimba United come into the match on a poor run of form, having lost their last six league games.
Another defeat would further deepen their relegation concerns and pile more pressure on the struggling side.
A win for Vipers would see them maintain their position at the top of the table with 55 points and preserve their four-point lead over second-placed KCCA FC, provided their closest challengers also win their fixture.
For Buhimba, victory could prove vital in their survival bid, especially if fellow relegation contenders Mbarara City and UPDF FC fail to pick up points in their respective matches.
Despite facing a side in the relegation zone, Vipers will be wary of complacency, knowing that any slip could intensify pressure in the title race.
Buhimba’s recent struggles include a 2-1 defeat to Entebbe UPPC in their previous match, where they initially took the lead before conceding twice to lose at home in Butema.
Vipers SC will have to secure victory without Usama Arafat (adductor injury), Odili Chukwuma (illness), Enock Ssebaggala (suspension), and Taddeo Lwanga and Gusto Mulongo, who are both sidelined with quadriceps injuries.
Karim Watambala (9 league goals) and captain Milton Karisa (six league goals) are expected to lead the charge as the Venoms aim for maximum points.

Notably, Vipers remain unbeaten on the pitch this season, with their only recorded defeat coming via a forfeiture decision by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel in the first-round fixture against Kitara.
The Kitende-based side are also still in contention for the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where they will face Kitara FC in a two-legged semi-final as they aim to retain both the league and cup titles, having achieved the double last season.
Off the pitch, club patron Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa reportedly pledged a reward of UGX 300 million should the team win the league this season, having already awarded UGX 50 million for finishing top of the first-round standings.
