Uganda Premier League side BUL FC have identified Emmanuel Shikanga as the replacement for departing left-back Nicholas Mwere, this website understands.
The calm and composed defender, who currently plays for IUIU FC in Mbale, has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Eastern Giants ahead of a proposed move.
Shikanga is regarded as one of the most promising young left-backs in Ugandan football and fits perfectly into BUL FC’s philosophy of developing emerging talent.
The club views the youngster as the ideal successor to Mwere, who recently left the club following the expiration of his contract.
According to reports, Mwere has already signed a three-year contract with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, bringing an end to his successful spell at BUL FC.
With as many as 10 players having already departed the club, BUL are expected to be active in the transfer market as they seek to rebuild their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Jinja-based side endured a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, finishing ninth in the Uganda Premier League standings and missing out on a place in next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament.
BUL FC are two-time FUFA Super 8 champions and will be determined to bounce back strongly as they aim to re-establish themselves among the league’s top-performing clubs.
