Uganda Premier League side BUL FC have agreed personal terms with URA FC defender Faizo Matovu ahead of a proposed move to the Eastern Giants, this website can confirm.
The experienced defender is expected to sign a three-year contract, with an official announcement from the club anticipated in the coming days.
BUL FC have been active in the transfer market following the departure of 10 players whose contracts expired at the end of last season.
The club is now focused on rebuilding the squad and strengthening key areas ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Matovu has emerged as one of the club’s priority targets as BUL seek to bolster their defensive options.
The defender struggled for regular playing time at URA FC and will be hoping for a fresh start as he looks to revive his career and establish himself as a key figure at his new club.
Matovu joined the Tax Collectors in 2024 and made his competitive debut for the club in September of the same year against KCCA FC.
Before joining URA, he captained Lugazi FC and played a significant role in the club’s rise before their eventual promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
Away from club football, Matovu has also enjoyed success, winning back-to-back Bika bya Baganda Football Tournament titles with Ngabi Nsamba in 2024 and 2025.
Should the deal be completed, Matovu would become one of BUL FC’s first major signings of the transfer window as the Jinja-based side continues its squad rebuilding process.
