Crested Cranes Goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi Joins Danish Giants
Crested Cranes goalkeeper Vanessa Edith Karungi has completed a move to Danish giants Brøndby IF following the expiry of her contract with fellow Danish side FC Nordsjælland.
Karungi joins Brøndby after a successful spell at Nordsjælland, where she won several major honours during her time at the club.
The 26-year-old is set to feature in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers, with Brøndby scheduled to face Ajax Women in August 2026.
Karungi has endured a challenging two-year period due to injuries after establishing herself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Crested Cranes.
One of Uganda’s most accomplished goalkeepers, Karungi was named the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Female Player of the Year in 2017.
In the same year, she was also crowned the Best Goalkeeper in the FUFA Women’s Cup after inspiring Olila High School WFC to their maiden title.
Over the course of her career, Karungi has featured for Mukono High School, Olila High School WFC, She Corporate FC, B93 Copenhagen, FC Nordsjælland and now Brøndby IF.
More details to follow.
