Crested Cranes Striker Joins UEFA Women’s Champions League Club

Uganda women’s national team striker Sylvia Kabene has completed a move to Maltese side Mgarr United WFC from fellow top-flight club Hibernians WFC.

The transfer will see the Crested Cranes forward feature in the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers as Mgarr United prepare for their continental campaign.

Kabene enjoyed an impressive season with Hibernians, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in just 11 league appearances.

The prolific striker has continued to establish herself as one of Uganda’s most successful female football exports and will now be aiming to make an impact on the European stage with her new club.

Kabene is one of the most prominent Ugandan strikers. She has already earned caps with Crested Cranes and won a CECAFA bronze with team.

She helped St Noa earn top-flight football last year and won the 2022 USSSA Girl’s football championship.
