Lugazi FC will visit BUL FC on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, knowing that victory could secure their Uganda Premier League status for another season despite heading into the match without eight players.

The visitors will be without Dauson Mafumu, Joseph Othieno, Adam Mutesaasira, Ashiraf Mulindi, David Bagoole, Cuti Peter, and Paul Wasswa.

They will also miss forward Alfred Leku, who is serving a five-match suspension imposed by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel following misconduct during Lugazi FC’s defeat to Kitara FC.

However, captain Richard Ayiko returns from suspension and is available for selection.

Lugazi FC currently sit 12th on the table with 23 points, seven above the relegation zone. A victory on Tuesday would move them to 26 points, meaning neither Calvary FC nor Buhimba United Saints would be able to catch them even if they won all their remaining matches.

The Simon Peter Mugerwa-coached side heads into the game after a 1-0 defeat to Mbarara City FC in their previous league outing, although they had earlier secured an away victory against Buhimba United Saints.

BUL FC, meanwhile, have lost their last two home matches, falling to NEC FC and UPDF FC, something that could give Lugazi FC confidence heading into the encounter.

In the reverse fixture, Lugazi FC defeated BUL FC 2-1 in Najjembe, with Paul Busolo and Freedom Mungudit scoring for the hosts, while Karim Ndugwa netted for BUL FC.

The last meeting between the two sides in Njeru saw BUL FC comfortably claim a 4-0 victory, with Karim Ndugwa scoring a brace while Ibrahim Orit and Hillary Onek added the other goals.

Historically, the two teams have faced each other three times, with BUL FC winning twice and Lugazi FC registering one victory.

Notably, this fixture has never ended in a draw, with an average of 3.3 goals scored per game between the two sides.
