UPDF FC will be aiming to collect maximum points to revive their survival hopes when they visit Entebbe UPPC on Thursday in Matchday 27 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Army side comes into this fixture under pressure, knowing that victory is crucial in their fight against relegation.

Mbarara City defeated Lugazi on Wednesday to move two points ahead of UPDF FC, while Calvary’s narrow win over Police FC reduced the gap to just five points behind the Army side.

This increases the pressure on UPDF ahead of Thursday’s encounter against an Entebbe UPPC side that has proven difficult to beat this season.

A victory for UPDF FC would lift them to 12th place with 24 points, eight points above the relegation zone and significantly boost their survival chances.

However, their defence will need to be at its best to contain Entebbe UPPC forward Ambrose Kigozi, who has scored 11 league goals this season. He is currently second on the league’s top scorers chart, one goal behind Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

Emmanuel Ochen, who has scored five goals, together with Rashid Faridi and Samson Kigozi, who have netted three each, will be relied upon to provide goals for the Army side.

In the first leg, Ambrose Kigozi scored on the stroke of halftime as Entebbe UPPC edged UPDF FC 1-0 in Bombo.

Historically, UPDF FC have won twice, drawn three times, and lost twice in their last seven meetings against Entebbe UPPC.

A total of 18 goals have been scored across those encounters, averaging 2.5 goals per game.

A victory for Entebbe UPPC would take them to 46 points in sixth place, leapfrogging Police FC, who lost to Calvary on Wednesday.

In the late kickoff, KCCA FC will host Maroons FC under the floodlights at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, as they seek to return to winning ways.
