Ex-SC Villa Boss Lands Long-Term Project in Rwanda

Former SC Villa head coach Petros Koukouras has been appointed as the new head coach of Rwandan side Mukura Victory Sports, this website can confirm.

The Greek tactician has reportedly agreed terms and signed a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year. An official announcement from the club is expected in the coming days.

Koukouras has been entrusted with leading Mukura’s rebuilding project, with a strong emphasis on youth development and talent identification.

The former SC Villa coach, who is also a FUFA Development Expert, is expected to play a key role in nurturing young players and establishing a sustainable pathway for talent progression at the club.

Holder of a UEFA A Coaching Licence, Koukouras is a Sports Science specialist and brings a wealth of experience in various aspects of football development beyond coaching.

As part of his responsibilities, the 37-year-old will also oversee Mukura’s youth structures, helping to implement a long-term strategy aimed at developing players capable of competing at the highest level.

Mukura’s management believes that investing in youth development will not only strengthen the first team but also create opportunities for future transfer revenue through the sale of developed talents.

The club finished seventh in the Rwanda Premier League last season and is optimistic that Koukouras can help guide the team to greater success in the upcoming campaign.

Koukouras has previously coached Uganda Premier League giants SC Villa and Rwandan side Kiyovu Sports, among other teams, and arrives at Mukura with a reputation for player development and modern coaching methods.
