Football Classroom Rewards Lukwago for League-Best Clean Sheet Record

SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago has been honoured with a special Golden Glove Award by Football Classroom, a popular WhatsApp football discussion group, in recognition of his outstanding performances during the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.

The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 16, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Football Classroom, a platform established to unite football stakeholders and enthusiasts, decided to recognise Lukwago after the official Uganda Premier League Golden Glove Award was presented to NEC FC goalkeeper Hannington Sebwalunyo despite Lukwago recording more clean sheets during the season.

The initiative was conceived by renowned New Vision sports journalist Becky Cynthia Nakimera, with members of the group supporting and implementing the idea.

Lukwago registered 15 clean sheets during the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League campaign, the highest tally by any goalkeeper in the competition.

However, the official Golden Glove Award was ultimately awarded to Sebwalunyo.

In a gesture aimed at recognising merit and celebrating excellence, Football Classroom presented Lukwago with its own Golden Glove Award.

Speaking after receiving the accolade, a delighted Lukwago expressed his gratitude:

“I am humbled to receive this award from Football Classroom for keeping the most clean sheets in the 2025/26 season. I could not have achieved this without my teammates at SC Villa. I am looking forward to an even better season next year.”

Lukwago enjoyed an impressive campaign between the posts, playing a key role as SC Villa finished third in the Uganda Premier League and reached the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

His consistent performances throughout the season also earned him a call-up to the Uganda Cranes national team.
