Former BUL Coach Kikomeko in Talks to Join Uganda Premier League Newcomers

Uganda Premier League newcomers Kigezi HomeBoyz have opened talks with former BUL FC head coach Abbey Kikomeko over a potential move to lead the club ahead of the 2026/27 season, this website understands.

According to reliable sources, negotiations between Kikomeko and Kigezi HomeBoyz began this week as the club intensifies efforts to strengthen its technical bench ahead of its maiden campaign in the top flight.

It is reported that Kikomeko could sign a two-year employment contract with the Gorillas should the two parties reach an agreement on terms.

The newly promoted side had initially approached experienced coach Kefa Kisala last week, but talks failed to progress, leaving Kikomeko as the frontrunner for the position.

Kigezi HomeBoyz are currently under the stewardship of Sadick Ssempigi, who holds a CAF B Coaching Licence and therefore does not meet the requirements to serve as head coach of a Uganda Premier League club.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has made it mandatory for all Uganda Premier League head coaches to possess a CAF A Coaching Licence as part of the club licensing requirements.

Kikomeko holds a CAF A Coaching Licence, and his vast coaching experience is viewed as a key asset as Kigezi HomeBoyz seek to establish themselves in the top flight and avoid relegation.

During his time at BUL FC, Kikomeko guided the club to back-to-back FUFA Super 8 titles in 2023 and 2024, further enhancing his reputation as one of the country’s respected tacticians.

The experienced coach has previously worked with BUL FC, Mbale Heroes FC and Busoga United, among other clubs.
