Four Out as Police Seek First Ever Away Win Against Mbarara
By: Geoffrey Mugabi
Thursday Fixtures
Mbarara City vs Police FC – Rwamwanja, 4:00 PM
Buhimba vs Entebbe UPPC – Butema, 4:00 PM
URA FC vs BUL FC – Nakivubo, 8:00 PM
Police FC will be without four players as they visit Mbarara City in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
In the match set to be played at Rwamwanja Stadium, Police FC will miss Mathias Muwanga, Otto Daniel, Derrick Maviiri, and Ivan Eyam.
Ryan Figo Kizito is also doubtful and could increase the number of absentees to five.
However, there is a boost for the visitors as Stephen Namaisi returns from suspension after missing the game against Express FC.
Mbarara City will only be without Marvin Busulwa, while Wyclif Ahumuza returns from suspension. The rest of the squad is available for selection.
The Ankole Lions sit just one point above the relegation zone and will look to capitalize on home advantage as they search for their first win of the year in their fight for survival.
In the first leg, Reagan Matege scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out Jjemba Shakur’s first-half strike, as the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
Both teams come into this fixture on the back of defeats, with Police FC losing to Express FC, while Mbarara City fell to UPDF FC.
Mbarara City have a strong home record in this fixture, having beaten Police FC in five of their six league meetings at home, with the other ending in a draw.
Police FC have gone five consecutive matches without a league win, losing four and winning once. They are also yet to register an away victory this year, with their last coming in December 2025—a 3-1 win over BUL FC in Jinja.
Mbarara City have also struggled for form, losing five of their last six matches and drawing once.
A win for Police FC could lift them to fifth place with 38 points, depending on Entebbe UPPC’s result. If Entebbe avoid defeat, Police would move into sixth place.
For Mbarara City, victory would see them climb to 13th place with 19 points, easing their relegation concerns.
Elsewhere, Buhimba will host Entebbe UPPC in Butema, while BUL FC will visit URA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, in the late kickoff.
