Frank Katongole Leaves Vipers Ahead of Expected Move to Kenya

Midfielder Frank Katongole has officially parted ways with Vipers SC after spending three seasons with the Uganda Premier League champions.

Katongole, who still had six months remaining on his contract, mutually terminated his deal with the Venoms as he seeks regular first-team football.

Sports Light Uganda understands that the 20-year-old has already attracted interest from Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia and Tusker FC, with both clubs monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move.

Despite being regarded as one of Uganda’s brightest young defensive midfielders, Katongole struggled for regular playing time at Vipers, making just 17 Uganda Premier League appearances across three seasons. However, he impressed whenever he was given the opportunity.

A product of the St. Mary’s Kitende football programme, Katongole won two USSSA Boys’ Football Championship titles before earning promotion to the senior team.

In a farewell message, Vipers thanked the midfielder for his contribution to the club.

“Farewell, Frank Katongole!

We say farewell and best of luck to Frank Katongole, who departs in search of regular game time.

Katongole has been a valued part of the squad, and his commitment and energy never went unnoticed.

Thanks for everything, Kante.”

Katongole becomes the seventh player to leave Vipers during the current transfer window, following the departures of Taddeo Lwanga, Bashir Ssekagya, Grant Matsiko, Nicholas Wadada, Alfred Mudekereza, and Livingstone Mulondo.

Meanwhile, the Venoms have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Joel Sserunjogi, Jacques Mangoba, Nicholas Mwere, and goalkeeper Loyce Marius Mbaba as they continue preparations for the 2026-27 season.
