FUFA Women’s Cup: Kampala Queens, Lady Doves Target Semi-Final Places

Saturday, June 6

Kampala Queens vs St Noa Girls – Lugogo, 3pm

Lady Doves vs UCU Lady Cardinals – Masindi, 3pm

The quarter-final stage of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup gets underway on Saturday afternoon with two highly anticipated fixtures as Kampala Queens host St Noa Girls at Lugogo, while UCU Lady Cardinals travel to Masindi to face Lady Doves.

Before kick-off, a moment of silence will be observed in memory of former She Corporate FC captain Cissy Nantongo, who passed away on Wednesday, June 3. FUFA confirmed the tribute on Friday.

Kampala Queens, who failed to retain the FUFA Women Super League title this season, will be hoping to keep their hopes of silverware alive by progressing to the semi-finals.

However, they face a difficult challenge against a St Noa side that has enjoyed recent success against them.

In last year’s competition, St Noa eliminated Kampala Queens 3-2 at the quarter-final stage at the same venue, with Sylvia Kabene scoring a hat-trick.

Earlier this season, St Noa also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kampala Queens in a league encounter at Lugogo.

The hosts will be without Catherine Nagadya, who is suspended after receiving a red card in the previous round against She Kasese.

Kampala Queens assistant coach Shafic Mutebi is aware of the challenge awaiting his side.

“This is a team we understand, but they are also very stubborn. We have to be on the front foot from the start and take control early,” Mutebi said.

“They’ve beaten us here before, so we know what can happen if we don’t start well. But we believe we are in a better place now as a team and we are ready to handle the moment.”

Meanwhile, in Masindi, FUFA Women Super League side Lady Doves will host Elite League outfit UCU Lady Cardinals in another intriguing quarter-final clash.

UCU Lady Cardinals reached this stage after eliminating BUL WFC, while Lady Doves knocked out Sheema Girls.

Lady Doves are still searching for their first FUFA Women’s Cup title, while UCU Lady Cardinals lifted the trophy in 2018.

According to the tournament regulations, the team with the most goals at the end of normal time will advance to the semi-finals.

If the match ends level, extra time consisting of two 15-minute halves will be played.

Should the teams remain tied after extra time, the winner will be determined through a penalty shootout.
