She Corporate FC needed a late goal from Moureen Nankinga to edge Olila High School WFC and move to the top of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League table.
In the match played at Soroti Stadium on Saturday, substitute Nankinga scored the decisive goal as She Corporate secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a resilient Olila side.
Despite Olila already being relegated, title-chasing She Corporate were expected to win comfortably. However, they had to remain patient and determined to grind out a narrow but crucial win.
The first half was largely uneventful, with few clear-cut chances created by either side, and both teams went into the break goalless.
After the restart, She Corporate returned with greater urgency in search of a breakthrough. Their persistence paid off in the 74th minute when Nankinga, who had come on 17 minutes earlier, found the back of the net. She converted from a well-delivered cross by Komuntale.
Komuntale nearly doubled the lead late in the game, but her free-kick was tipped onto the woodwork by goalkeeper Akite.
At the other end, goalkeeper Molly Naava made a crucial save to deny Olila, ensuring a clean sheet and all three points for the visitors.
Earlier this season, Nankinga had also scored the winning goal in She Corporate’s victory over St Noa on the road in December.

She Corporate have developed a reputation for late winners this season, and such resilience could prove vital in their title push.
The victory lifts She Corporate to the top of the table with 47 points, two ahead of Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who face Makerere University on Sunday.
The result also means She Corporate have completed a league double over Olila, having won the first leg 3-2.
In their next fixture, She Corporate will host St Noa on 26 April, while Olila will visit Amus College on the same day.
Elsewhere, Uganda Martyrs defeated already relegated Asubo Ladies 3-0, with goals from Sharon Nabowa, Sharon Kanyiginya, and Angel Kigongo Auki.
On Sunday, Kampala Queens will host Amus College, while Rines SS WFC take on Lady Doves.
