Hilary Mukundane Marks 100th League Appearance for Vipers SC in Title-Winning Victory
Vipers SC defender Hilary Mukundane reached a major career milestone on Tuesday after making his 100th league appearance for the club in their 3-0 victory over Maroons FC.
The experienced defender will forever remember the landmark occasion as it came on the same day Vipers SC secured their eighth Uganda Premier League title with one game left to play.
Mukundane started in the match at Wankulukuku where Yunus Sentamu, Usama Arafat, and Karim Watambala scored to hand the Venoms a comfortable victory and confirm them as league champions.
The defender joined Vipers SC from Mbarara City FC in 2022 and made his league debut for the club on February 9, 2022, when he came on as a second-half substitute for Najib Yiga in a 3-1 away victory against BUL FC.
Since then, Mukundane has established himself as one of the club’s most reliable defenders. Out of his 100 league appearances, he has started 98 matches and come on as a substitute two times, while also scoring five league goals for the Kitende-based side.
During his century of league appearances for Vipers, Mukundane has won eight Player of the Match awards and remarkably completed the milestone without receiving a single red card.
In 2025, respected Ugandan sports administrator Mujib Kasule praised the defender for his discipline and consistency.

“Mukundane is a very disciplined and hardworking player. He knows when and what to do at the right time, and that makes him the best defender in the league right now,” Kasule said during Sanyuka Prime Sports show.
Mukundane was named the Uganda Premier League Best Defender of the Season in 2023 and has continued to prove himself as one of the finest defenders in the country.
Since joining Vipers SC, he has now won four Uganda Premier League titles and two Uganda Cups, and will be hoping to add more silverware to his collection in the coming seasons.
