Pre-match Reactions
“We didn’t score in our last league game in Kitende, and we have worked on that aspect ahead of tomorrow’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League match against KCCA FC in Lugogo,” said Kitara head coach Wasswa Bbosa.
“We are fully prepared to face Kitara. The players must stay focused both on and off the ball and execute transitions well. Kitara is a strong team, but we are determined to win. Failing to win at a big club like KCCA FC is unacceptable, so we must do everything possible to secure victory,” said KCCA FC co-coach Jackson Magera.
Preview: KCCA, Kitara Face Off in Crucial Title Clash
Second-placed Kitara FC will visit fourth-placed KCCA FC on Friday evening in matchday 23 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The match, set to be played under the floodlights at MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, presents a crucial opportunity for both sides to return to winning ways and keep their title hopes alive.
KCCA FC come into the fixture following a 1-0 defeat to SC Villa in the Kampala derby, while Kitara played out a goalless draw with league leaders Vipers SC in their previous match.
In the reverse fixture, KCCA FC needed a late equaliser from Sharifu Ssengendo to cancel out Emmanuel Wasswa’s early goal, as the two sides settled for a draw.

Kitara sit five points behind leaders Vipers SC, and a win would reduce the gap to just two points, strengthening their title challenge.
For KCCA FC, every remaining match is crucial as they seek to stay in contention for the league title, especially after exiting the Uganda Cup.
A victory would lift them to second place with 48 points, four behind Vipers, whom they are yet to face again.
The match is expected to be a competitive and high-intensity encounter, with several players facing their former clubs.
Muhamad Shaban, Patrick Kaddu, Kato Nemeyimana, and Emmanuel Wasswa previously featured for KCCA FC and now play for Kitara.
On the other hand, Lazaro Bwambale, Rogers Mugisha, and coach Brian Ssenyondo have past ties with Kitara and are now part of the KCCA setup.
Kitara have won only once at Lugogo against KCCA FC, a 1-0 victory in 2024 courtesy of Denis Omedi.
Last season, KCCA FC secured a 2-0 win at the same venue, with goals from Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Nsibambi.
