KCCA Pull Plug on Derrick Nsibambi Stay
Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC are set to part ways with striker Derrick Nsibambi when his contract expires at the end of June 2026, this website understands.
The decision comes after the experienced forward failed to meet the club’s expectations during his second spell at Lugogo.
Nsibambi rejoined KCCA FC in 2024 on a two-year contract but struggled to make a significant impact, largely due to injuries and limited playing time.
Last season, the striker featured in only six Uganda Premier League matches and failed to score, spending a considerable period on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Across his two-year stint, Nsibambi managed 21 league appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Despite his recent struggles, the forward remains a notable figure in KCCA FC’s history.
During his first spell at the club between 2014 and 2018, he played a key role in one of the greatest achievements in Ugandan club football.
In 2017, Nsibambi scored against Egyptian side Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round, helping KCCA FC secure qualification to the group stage and become the first Ugandan club to reach that milestone.
However, his second stint at the club failed to replicate those memorable performances, and both parties are now expected to go their separate ways.

As KCCA FC continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, the club is keen to retain key players such as Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Richard Anyama, while also pursuing the signing of Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that SC Villa midfielder Elvis Ngonde has already agreed terms with KCCA FC and is expected to join the club as a free agent.
Nsibambi has represented the Uganda Cranes in CECAFA competitions, CHAN qualifiers, and AFCON qualifying campaigns during his career.
The striker has previously played for Bandari FC, Al Bashaeer Club, URA FC, Smouha SC, Sebeta City, and KCCA FC, among other clubs.
