Kigezi HomeBoyz Secure Historic Promotion to Uganda Premier League
Football fans in Kabale, Kisoro and Rukungiri are set for celebrations after Kigezi HomeBoyz FC secured promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
For the first time in the club’s history, Kigezi HomeBoyz FC will feature in Uganda’s top-flight league following a convincing 2-0 victory over Blacks Power FC at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
Dominic Abango emerged as the hero of the day after scoring a brilliant brace that sealed promotion for Kigezi HomeBoyz, who finished the season on 51 points.
Despite the defeat, Blacks Power FC also secured promotion to the top division after accumulating the same number of points as Kigezi HomeBoyz.
This season’s FUFA Big League will see four teams promoted to the Uganda Premier League. Kataka FC, Ntugasaze FC and Paidha Black Angels FC are still battling for the remaining promotion places, while two teams will be relegated to the lower division.
If all goes according to plan, the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season will feature 18 teams.
