Kitara FC Introduces Online-Only Tickets as Al Ahly Clash Targets 17,000 Fans in Hoima

Kitara FC has introduced an online-only ticketing system for its CAF Confederation Cup final preliminary round clash against Al Ahly on 17 October 2026, as the club targets a full Hoima City Stadium.

The highly anticipated encounter will kick off at 4:00 p.m., with Kitara hoping to attract up to 17,000 supporters for the continental fixture.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala this afternoon, addressed by Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi, CEO Joshua Atugonza and Marketing and Events Manager Andrew Kaahwa.

VIP tickets will cost UGX 100,000, while ordinary tickets will go for UGX 20,000. The club has confirmed that there will be no physical tickets, with all supporters required to purchase their tickets online.

According to the club, the move to online ticketing is aimed at improving the fans’ experience, strengthening ticket monitoring and addressing some of the challenges and complaints received during the previous match.

Kitara hosted approximately 15,000 fans in its previous game and has now been allocated 17,000 slots for the Al Ahly encounter. The club has called upon football supporters from across Uganda to travel to Hoima and fill the stadium.

To assist fans who may face difficulties securing tickets online, Kitara has established different support points in Hoima and nearby areas. Monitoring desks will also be available to assist supporters experiencing challenges with the ticketing process.

The club said its decision has also been informed by experiences from Uganda Cranes matches and its previous games, where many supporters have successfully accessed tickets online. Kitara further sees the initiative as part of preparing Ugandan football fans for AFCON, where digital ticketing is expected to be increasingly used.

The stadium gates will open at 10:00 a.m., while VIP ticket holders will receive parking stickers. The club will also provide more information about the additional packages available to VIP supporters.

For supporters who miss out on tickets, Kitara will establish a fan zone outside the stadium where they can follow the match.

The club is also engaging supporters from different regions to organise transport for fans travelling to Hoima.

On the sporting side, Kitara remains confident ahead of the encounter, noting that Ugandan teams have previously defeated Al Ahly.

Kitara will travel from Entebbe to Hoima using a domestic flight, while Al Ahly is also expected to use a domestic flight for its journey to Hoima.

The club confirmed that, apart from head coach Bbosa, all players have been licensed for the competition.

Kitara has also set aside UGX 400 million in bonuses for the players if the team qualifies for the group stages, while players will receive other performance bonuses even if the team does not progress.

Meanwhile, the club expects new jerseys to be available by the end of next week. Kitara currently has no jerseys available at its offices.

With 17,000 slots available, Kitara is calling upon football fans across Uganda to turn up in large numbers and fill Hoima City Stadium when the two sides meet on 17 October.
