Etienne Katenga and Emmanuel Anyama scored two late goals to hand KCCA FC a dramatic victory over struggling UPDF FC and keep the Uganda Premier League title race alive.

In the match played in Bombo on Wednesday, KCCA FC came from behind to defeat UPDF FC 2-1 and complete a league double over the Army side.

The hosts took the lead in the 38th minute through Emmanuel Ochen, who gave UPDF FC a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second half, Ivan Ahimbisibwe thought he had equalised for KCCA FC in the 55th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside by the assistant referee.

UPDF FC defended their narrow lead until the 87th minute when substitute Emmanuel Anyama headed in Herbert Achayi’s well-delivered cross to level matters.

Just two minutes later, another substitute, Etienne Katenga, reacted quickest to a rebound from the goalkeeper to score the winner and complete a dramatic comeback for the visitors.

The Kasasiro Boys secured maximum points and completed a league double over UPDF FC after their 4-0 victory in the first leg.

The win takes KCCA FC to 58 points in second place, just three behind leaders Vipers SC with two matches remaining. The Kasasiro Boys will next face URA FC on May 20.

UPDF FC, meanwhile, remain on 21 points, only four above the relegation zone, and their wait for a first victory over KCCA FC in 10 years continues. They will host Calvary FC in their next league match.

Elsewhere, SC Villa defeated Mbarara City FC 3-1 away from home, while NEC FC host Buhimba United Saints later this evening at Lugogo.
