Magera Hails Resilient Performance in KCCA’s Crucial Win Over Entebbe UPPC

KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera praised his players for a disciplined and resilient display after their 1-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League matchday 24.

Sammy Ssebaduka’s second-half header proved decisive in Bugonga, keeping KCCA firmly in the title race with a hard-fought away win.

“This has been a crucial win. It is not easy to come here and beat Entebbe UPPC at their home ground. I thank the players for putting up a resilient performance and securing maximum points,” the coach said after the match.

In a tightly contested encounter with limited clear-cut chances, both sides went into the break level after a goalless first half. The coach noted the importance of patience and efficiency in such matches.

“The players understand how important each game is and the value of every chance we get to score. Gavin created the opportunity and Sammy utilised it,” he said.

The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Gavin Kizito delivered a well-weighted cross into the box. The Entebbe UPPC goalkeeper rushed off his line, but Ssebaduka reacted quickest to head home and give KCCA the lead.

Magera also acknowledged the challenge posed by their opponents, describing Entebbe UPPC as a tactically organised side.

“Entebbe UPPC is a very organised team. You do not get many chances against them, but I commend the team for staying compact defensively and protecting the lead to secure the points,” he added.

KCCA maintained their composure in the closing stages, defending resolutely to see out the game and claim all three points.

The victory keeps KCCA in second place on 51 points, four behind leaders Vipers SC, who also registered a win on the day. Meanwhile, Entebbe UPPC dropped to seventh position with 40 points.

KCCA will next face Calvary on April 25, while Entebbe UPPC take on Vipers in their upcoming fixture.
