Uganda Cranes attacker Rogers Mato was the star of the game as Hearts beat Stenhousemuir 3-0 to storm the Scottish Premier Sports Cup semifinals.

The pacy forward scored one goal, while JJ Williams and substitute Yan Dhanda added a goal each to seal a well-deserved victory for the visitors.

JJ Williams opened the scoring before Mato doubled Hearts’ advantage to send his side into the break with a 2-0 lead. Substitute Yan Dhanda then came off the bench to complete the victory.

Mato was electric throughout the game, capping his impressive performance with a solo run into the box before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Beyond his goal, Mato was influential throughout the game, particularly in attack, as he consistently troubled the Stenhousemuir defence.

At full time, Mato was named Player of the Match as Hearts secured their place in the cup semifinals.

The performance came shortly after Mato was named in the Uganda Cranes squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Tunisia and Libya, before the Cranes face DR Congo in two friendly matches.
