Mbarara City defeated Lugazi FC on Wednesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League to move eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Clinton Kamugisha scored the all-important goal in the second half as Mbarara secured a 1-0 victory in Najjembe to claim three crucial points.

The win takes Mbarara City to 23 points, seven above the relegation zone with three games remaining in the season.

In their next fixture, Lugazi will visit BUL FC on May 12, while Mbarara City will host SC Villa the following day.

Elsewhere, Lawrence Olaboro scored the decisive goal as Calvary defeated Police FC 1-0 in Yumbe to move to 16 points and send Buhimba to the bottom of the table.
