The club confirmed Kateregga’s departure alongside four other players as part of its squad restructuring ahead of the new season.

Also released by the club are Rwandan forward Byiringiro Lague, Nigerian midfielder David Chimezie, and Burundian duo Henry Msanga and Richard Kirongozi.

Kateregga leaves Police FC after a successful spell that included winning the Rwanda Super Cup in 2024.

The former Uganda Cranes international is now expected to begin the search for a new club, with reliable sources indicating that several teams from across the region have already expressed interest in signing him.

Widely regarded as one of Uganda’s most talented midfielders of his generation, Kateregga boasts vast experience both locally and internationally.

The left-footed midfielder also represented the Uganda national team in various competitions and was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
