Midfielder Set to Depart UPDF After Contract Expiry
Midfielder Ronaldo Kayondo is set to leave Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC when his contract expires at the end of June, this website understands.
Kayondo, whose current deal with the Army side runs out this month, will not renew his contract and is expected to seek a new challenge ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The former Kitara FC midfielder was a key figure for UPDF FC during the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League campaign, featuring in 29 of the club’s 30 league matches.
The hardworking midfielder was among the team’s standout performers as UPDF successfully avoided relegation and retained their top-flight status.
Kayondo has previously played for UPDF FC, Kitara FC and Tooro United, building a reputation as a reliable and industrious midfielder.

UPDF FC finished 14th in the 16-team Uganda Premier League standings last season with 22 points, just one point above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Samson Andrew Kigozi is also expected to leave the club at the end of June as UPDF prepare for a squad overhaul ahead of the new campaign.
The official transfer window in Uganda will open on July 1 and close on September 19.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on August 28, with fixtures expected to be released a month earlier.
