OFFICIAL: Vipers Confirm Departure of Head Coach Ivan Minnaert

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Ivan Minnaert following the expiry of his contract.

The club announced on Sunday that both parties had mutually agreed to part ways after the Belgian tactician’s contract came to an end.

In a brief statement, Vipers SC thanked Minnaert for his contribution to the club and wished him success in his future endeavors.

“Vipers Sports Club is pleased to announce that it has mutually parted ways with head coach Ivan Minnaert after the expiry of his contract.

“The club appreciates Minnaert’s dedicated service and professionalism to Vipers SC and wishes him the best in his career path.

“We remain, One Team One Dream.”

Minnaert leaves St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, after guiding the Venoms to the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League title, the eighth league championship in the club’s history.

The Belgian enjoyed a successful campaign with Vipers, who completed the season unbeaten on the field of play. Their only league defeat came through a boardroom decision after forfeiting a fixture against Kitara FC, with the latter awarded the points.

Under Minnaert’s stewardship, Vipers finished top of the table and comfortably secured the league crown.

His impressive work was further recognised when he was named the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League Coach of the Season.

Before joining Vipers, Minnaert won the 2024-25 Liberian Premier League title with Fassell, making it back-to-back league triumphs in two different countries.

His departure comes as Vipers prepare for participation in the upcoming CECAFA Kagame Cup and begin plans for the 2026-27 season, including their return to continental football in the CAF Champions League.
