Okello Eyes League Title and Golden Boot in Young Africans’ Season Finale

Ugandan international Allan Okello will be aiming to cap off an outstanding debut season with Young Africans by helping the Tanzanian giants retain the NBC Premier League title while also boosting his chances of winning the Golden Boot when they face JKT Tanzania in their final league game today at Major General Isamuhyo, Mbweni Stadium.

Young Africans head into the decisive fixture at the top of the league table with 72 points, two ahead of second-placed Simba SC, who will host KMC FC simultaneously.

A victory for Young Africans will guarantee them another league title. They will also be crowned champions if they match or better Simba’s result.

The defending champions won the reverse fixture 2-0, with Chadrack Boka and Mudathir Yahya scoring the goals.

Okello heads into the match in outstanding form after netting a hat-trick in Young Africans’ victory over TRA United, taking his league tally to 14 goals for the season. He now trails the league’s leading scorer, Salum Toto, by just one goal.

Should Okello score twice today while Salum Toto fails to find the net, the Uganda Cranes midfielder will finish the season as the league’s top scorer and claim the Golden Boot.

Since joining Young Africans from Vipers SC at the start of the year, Okello has enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering 14 goals and five assists in just 22 league appearances.
