Paul Put Names Uganda Cranes Squad for Tanzania, Madagascar Friendlies

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named his squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar.

SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago has earned a call-up after an outstanding campaign in the Uganda Premier League this season.

Lukwago has kept more than 14 league clean sheets this season, with his impressive performances earning him a place in the national team squad.

Young Africans midfielder Allan Okello is also part of the squad. The attacking midfielder has been in brilliant form, scoring seven goals in his last four matches for the Tanzanian giants.

Uganda Cranes will face Tanzania on June 5 before taking on Madagascar on June 8, with both friendly matches set to be played in Morocco.

The games are expected to help Uganda prepare for upcoming international assignments, including the 2027 AFCON qualifiers scheduled to begin in September this year.

Uganda was drawn in Group H alongside Tunisia, Libya, and Botswana during the AFCON 2027 qualifiers draw conducted earlier this week.

Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania will co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which is scheduled to take place from June to July 2027.
