Patrick Kakande scored his second goal of the season as Sports Club Villa defeated Kigezi HomeBoyz 3-1 at Wankulukuku on Tuesday, maintaining their unbeaten start after four games.

Kakande opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after the Kigezi HomeBoyz goalkeeper brought him down inside the box, leaving the referee with no option but to award a penalty.

Kakande calmly converted from the spot to give the hosts an early lead.

The goal was Kakande’s second of the season, having also scored in Villa’s 2-0 victory over rivals Express FC.

SC Villa continued to dominate as they searched for a second goal, and their persistence paid off when Aslam Semakula doubled the advantage.

Semakula received the ball from Asiimwe, beat one opponent and created space before finishing from close range to make it 2-0.

Villa went into the break with a comfortable lead and made several changes in the second half, including introducing new signing Brian Mato, whose arrival added more energy and strength to the team.

Towards the end of the match, substitute Andrew Otim put the result beyond doubt after converting a cross from Mato to make it 3-0.

Kigezi HomeBoyz managed to score a consolation goal, but Villa held on to secure a 3-1 victory and continue their impressive start to the season.

The win takes SC Villa to 10 points in third position, behind league leaders BUL FC and NEC FC.

Villa welcomed back Semakula, who had been forced off through injury during the second half of their previous match against Express FC. However, they were without Raymond Barasa, who is away with Uganda’s U-20 team at the AFCON U-20 qualifiers in Tanzania.

The victory gives the Jogoos their second consecutive league win and keeps the pressure on the teams at the top of the table.
