Shan David’s FC Complete Hamz Cup Round of 16 Lineup as Matu Hits Double Hat-Trick
Shan David’s FC completed the Hamz Cup Round of 16 lineup after defeating Buganda Kombucha 4-0 on Tuesday, August 25, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial.
Intelligent Bonny Viany Kigenyi scored twice, adding to Joseph Yiga’s opener and an own goal from Charles Ntulume, who failed to deal with a dangerous cross from overlapping left-back Ismail Lubega.
Shan David’s FC relied heavily on midfielder Innocent Ongurucho and left-back Ismail Lubega, with the team scoring twice in each half to finish second in Group D with four points.
The group was topped by Man United Fans UG, who collected seven points from their three group-stage matches.
After securing their place in the knockout stage, the travelling agents’ boss, Wasswa David, praised his team’s performance and set his sights on winning the competition.
“I am highly impressed with this performance. It has been fantastic. We have found a new lifeline and a new hope. Now we are here to take the trophy to Entebbe Road,” he said.

The final day of the group stage also belonged to Mutaasa Kafeero FC, who completed their campaign in style with a 6-0 victory over Kkona FC.
Mezala Brian Tumusiime Matu was the star of the show, scoring all six goals in the opening game of the day. The remarkable haul took his tournament tally to 11 goals in just three matches, allowing him to reclaim the top scorer’s position.
The double-legged Round of 16 is expected to commence soon, with the draw set to take place first to determine the prize-money brackets, which will apply to all teams that reach the quarter-finals.
