Ssenyondo: KCCA Deserved More Against Vipers

KCCA FC co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo believes his side deserved victory after their 1-1 draw with Vipers SC in Matchday 26 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA FC took the lead through Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s first-half penalty, but substitute Glodi Beyuku scored a late equaliser to earn Vipers a point and maintain their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Reflecting on the result, Ssenyondo expressed frustration over missed chances and a lapse in concentration late in the game.

“When you look at the 90 minutes, we were the better team and did not deserve to draw—we deserved to win. We have ourselves to blame for not utilising the many chances we created,” Ssenyondo said.

“If we had converted at least one more chance, the story would be different. The boys showed great fighting spirit and proved they can compete with any team.”

The KCCA coach pointed to a late defensive lapse that allowed Vipers to snatch a point.

“We lost concentration in the final minutes and conceded. We really deserved to win.”

Despite the setback, Ssenyondo insists the title race is still open, with four matches remaining.

“We must win all our remaining four games—that’s 12 points—and hope Vipers drop points so we can still win the league,” he added.

The result leaves KCCA FC second on 52 points, while Vipers SC remain top with 59 points.
